The Cumming-of-age of Onani Master Kurosawa. And I Came Buckets.

Those are True Tears btw.

woah, the resemblance between Kurosawa and Hei didn’t occur to me until I saw this fanart, looks-wise and otherwise.

I’ve been putting off reading Onani Master Kurosawa for the longest time now (as with the rest of my backlogs), and a rather unexpected turn of events finally got me to stop bumming [...]

I Would So Ride The Miracle Train, If You Know What I Mean

Enough super serious posts and let’s turn this back to an anime blog again!
I wonder if you’ve heard of this urban legend…
There’s said to be a subway in Tokyo Underground that knows no bound.
And in this subway is a train filled with no one else but BEAUTIFUL SPARKLY SMEXY MEN.
It goes by the name of [...]

On Epicness and the Legend of Basara – A MUST READ EPIC SHOUJO GEM!!!!

These are the times when I’d feel really grateful to the Google Reader Shared Items Secret Society — you made me snap out of my laziness and actually inspired me to actually post about Basara! FINALLY! TT_____TT yes, I know, I owe Sasa a BIG APOLOGY for neglecting this for so long. Oh and HELL YES, I’m neglecting my other planned posts just for this. [oh and a little warning, the pics might be a little spoilerish]

What the Hetalia?!

Thanks to the recent LOL Korea dorama, almost everyone and their mom most likely checked this out (or are planning to). What a way to pique the interest of people who are supposedly apathetic to this series! All hail Hetalia?!

In Lieu of the Fall Preview #2: Hakushaku to Yousei

I’ve been reading the Hakushaku to Yousei novel since last week (slowly, because I was preoccupied with other stuff), and I’m enjoying the read so far. The start seemed a little shaky, I had a hard time picturing the Victorian-esque Western setting due to lack of vivid details, though I’m not really sure if it’s got something to do with my lack of comprehension or the writing itself (I haven’t read enough fantasy books to be a ‘good’ critic). But that’s nothing compared to the priceless antics I’m seeing from the Fairy Doctor Lydia and the Count Edgar, and this is exactly why I actually said I’m enjoying this little adventure.

A [Random] Belated Congratulations to Toshokan Sensou

This news got past my TS radar, and was brought to my attention by fellow Toshokan Sensou evangelist fan haya5hi of Akiba-Station. Basically, Toshokan Sensou bags the stellar ?? (Seiun) award in the recently concluded Japan SF (sci-fi) convention Daicon7, an award whose awesomeness I won’t be able to fathom had I not read haya5hi’s post about it being a semi-illiterate and all lol. Congratulations to ToshoSen and of course, its author Hiro Arikawa, for bringing us this wonderful novel. I promise, I’ll get to reading ALL of it after I finish studying for JLPT1 also because I’m currently sidetracked with reading the Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu novels >.>

Where Does Thy Charm Lie, Nogizaka Haruka?

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu has gone past that dramatic arc that was episode 3, but still, I’m loving it. I’ve heard many people (guys and girls like) say that it makes them go “Kyaa~!” or “Awww” with each episode, and I couldn’t agree more. The big grin on my face every time I watch this series serves as the ultimate proof of that. Yuuto and Haruka’s rabu rabu is just too sweet and cute for words. It’s cliché, says the wise anime sages, but it’s good cliché fluff that actually breaks the stereotypical harem genre mold in which it was placed under.

Sucked Into Skip Beat: Chicken Soup For My Sullen Sinister Soul

I can no longer recall what made me stop following the Skip Beat manga yearssss ago. Oh right, I don’t think I even immersed myself into it before, which is most likely why I can’t remember the slightest of details with regards to the acting feats Kyoko undertook, or her antics with Ren. I can actually recall some bits and pieces, but not so vividly as a true fan would. But now, after yearsss I finally got back to the Skip Beat bandwagon, dragging my brother with me to the heights of Skip Beat nirvana, ohohoho (I checked and I had the raws of volumes 1-11 way back 2005, never been touched. imagine that T__T) Just for the record, my brother is not like Impz who can tolerate and stomach quite a lot of shoujo works. He hates Marmalade Boy to the core, same with ItaKiss which he deems to lack development. Then we also ended up having an argument about Saiunkoku where I had to defend Shuurei with all my might but failed to convince him nonetheless. So yeah, I think you can see a bit of his standards of a good manga / anime.

Antique Bakery: Buttsecks-Less BL?! USODAA!!!11!!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or that the only summer 2008 anime guide you bothered to check out is THAT’s where the bloggers’ comments about it are all homophobic and doesn’t really do this series justice), you would know that Antique Bakery is not BL, or at least, not like your typical BL which is almost immediately associated with Buttsecks and Lustful panderings. It’s Buttsecks-Less! If you don’t trust me, then trust the great Omni. Or JP. Or other ones who have read the manga and know what it’s really about. (That Antique Bakery review by Floating_Sakura of Manganews is by far the best I’ve seen)
