I was also among the people who went “NOOOOO YUUUKKIIIII!!!” as the ending credits rolled, but one quick search on the synopsis of the upcoming episodes is enough to dispel me of this fear, hah! >:]
So calm down people, rest assured that Yuuki is going to be alright~ He’ll just be taken to the hospital, undergo some operation (I’m thinking he has appendicitis, given the indigestion-like symptoms), alive and genki not before long, and homeward bound they go~

It’s so easy to let loose and want to shout “OMG YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS!” when you watch an anime that’s so amazing, and you want other people to share in the joy of having discovered a GEM — like when I came across Cross Game and found it to be the BEST that Spring has to offer (I know there’s also Eden of the East, but I’m pretty jaded about it atm, will pick it up again when I’m ready to TAKE IT ALL IN); it’s also as easy to get disappointed when people can’t seem to relate with the OH JOY you’re feeling.

“is becoming good at Nihongo”, says one of the contestants in the recently concluded Nihongo Speech Contest – Open Division category during the Q&A portion, whose speech was entitled “Welcome to the Otaku World”. No offense, but I found this answer to be a sellout, since well, the reason why someone could be part of the Nihongo Speech Contest finalists and could have a greater chance of winning is because he/she is good at Nihongo, amirite?! Ok, enough sarcasm, and the contestant I’m stabbing behind her back even won 1st place so who am I to argue.

One hackneyed phrase I often hear when people talk about romance-themed series is that it’s either “realistic” or “unrealistic”. Of course, White Album is no exception. I mean, in 3 out of 4 White Album posts (and even forum posts) you’ll see these terms overused, may it be in the post itself or in the comments — people defending the series for its realism on one hand, other people complaining about how unrealistic the situations are on the other.

September 6 will forever be remembered as the day the 1st ever WordCamp Philippines was held (to all those who attended it, that is). Needless to say, and it was awesome! Fun and insightful, and I got to spend it with fellow anime bloggers hazy and Zeroblade too. I’m pretty slow so both of them have already given their respective reports on the event, while mine is days late orz.

While I initially didn’t intend to post about our 1st Round-Robin topic about the subject of anime and escapism, I had a sudden burst of inspiration after reading Hinano’s entry, and I found myself empathizing with, and pondering upon this escapism issue. Then comes Soshi’s write-up on this topic, and once again I am inspired.

Weeks after Toshokan Sensou aired, I couldn’t help but facepalm at the people who were taking it really seriously, especially those who even gave their lengthy oh-so-intelligent logical / analytical / political explanations just to point out the loopholes of the series, vis-à-vis Real World Standards. thank you guys for your smart-ass explanations, you’ve just proven how SERIOUS you are over Toshokan Sensou. While most people agree that the premise of Toshokan Sensou is silly, there are those who get to enjoy the show despite that.
Instead of acting like a curmudgeon (which I initially intended to do), I sat down and thought about the sentiments of these Toshokan Sensou cynics. Pondering upon the roots of this hate, I noticed an odd similarity between the reactions of people against Toshokan Sensou and that of Tezuka’s misgivings against Iku, as far as the first two episodes are concerned.
“What random nonsense!” some of you might be exclaiming right now, so here’s a bit of explaining, which I hope will make my point clear.
